There is a new must-have feature in tech products, and that is “beauty”. No matter what innovations your organization has decided to pursue, and regardless of the innovation strategy you’re following, there will always come a point where innovators need to deal with their information technology cousins.
A key question to be resolved at the start of an innovation effort is who to hire to lead.
What is a team with an innovation agenda but no budget supposed to do?
We are presently seeing signs of the emergence of an innovation economy. It will replace the knowledge economy that went before it, and the replacement will be as inexorable as the tide. The fact is it’s increasingly obvious that even organisations with superb knowledge economy credentials – companies such as Microsoft and General Motors, for example – weathered the recent global economic crisis little better than those companies based on industrial age economics such primary industries like agriculture and mining
Though it seems like common sense, many organisations don’t define what they mean by innovation before they start innovating. Then, they wonder why there are few decent innovation outcomes they can show to stakeholders.
