If you are looking for a great all rounder anti moth product you have found it with the Orphea Salvalana Spray. But why is it and Orphea so great? Did you know that Orphea is made in Italy using a natural formulation based on over 400 plant & flower extracts. Italian Cashmere is often packed with an Orphea product inside to provide amazing protection which is completely natural and will not harm the fabric.

So good in fact it is apparently the natural protection preferred by Piacenza Cashmere, (the Piacenza family has been producing some of the world’s finest cashmere garments for over 270 years so I think they must know about the best ways to protect delicate fabrics!). Unlike some Anti Moth Products it has a pleasant & unobtrusive bouquet and is particularly popular being safe & non-staining when in contact with garments. Complete protection but without the damage.

* Protect against Moths & Silverfish

* Non – staining, A pleasant & unobtrusive bouquet

* Protect against Moths & Silverfish

Now back to the moth spray in the Orphea range – Orphea Salvalana Spray. It is very versatile and really is the one to get if you get only one Moth Control Product. Because it’s in apractical & easy to use spray it’s ideal to use on heavy and bulky garments such as overcoats and can also be used on bedding, blankets and even carpets.

It is not just for pet owners, it is the ultimate Fluff Remover too! Use it on clothes, carpets and curtains; in the car… it is also brilliant for picking up broken glass and use it wrapped around your fingers to remove hard to reach dust, fluff, crumbs from cupboards, drawers or your handbag!

* You do not really need to be told this one! But just to clarify Pet Hair Rollers are brilliant at removing your pet’s hair (and your own hair) from clothes. The super sticky paper quickly removes any hairs or other debris from your clothing that you often only see in daylight, which is inevitably when rushing out of the door!

* It is great for picking up bits of mud left on the floor when removing shoes and wellies – give the area a quick once over with the roller and you won’t have to deal with it when you return!

* In the car grownups are even more messy!! Once you have had various packages, shopping, a dirty push chair, shoes for walks and so on in the boot it starts to look pretty bad, but a Lint Roller will soon get rid of the debris ready for the next round! They’re also ideal for picking up the debris, dust and hairs from the seats and foot well. Use them on the dashboard and glove box too – you do not need to restrict it to the handle, wrap some paper around your hand to get to the impossible to get to areas. I do exactly this when cleaning my son’s high chair!

* Most people find it hard to make time to hoover each day – and who wants to?!… but there are many people like myself that have young children and a dog (or equally bad a cat!) who find they do some cleaning one day and by the following day the carpet looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for a week! Obviously with little time to clean again, this is where my Pet Hair Roller really shows its worth… great for use in between hoovering.

Here is a reminder of just some of the many, many uses of the humble Pet Hair Roller Brush:

* Great at removing very small particles – it is especially useful when you have dropped something that can be dangerous to pets and small children especially – such as glass. Notoriously difficult to clean up because of the tiny particles that you obviously ca not see… if you use your lint roller over the floor it will pick up the really small pieces that you don’t even notice are there

* Having a good clean out of your cupboards and drawers? The trick of tearing off some of the paper and using it wrapped around your fingers to get into the edges and corners works wonders here… leaving your drawers brilliantly clean and ready for your nicely ordered items!

* In a similar fashion use it to clean your handbag and purse – one of the most therapeutic tasks for some women is emptying and tidying out their bags… well now you can get it nice and clean before refilling!

The research gives evidence regarding detailed use of the latter by those companies. There are four main social networking sites they are focusing on analysing.

Burson-Marsteller Communications Group has recently conducted a study which shows that 79% of Fortune 100 companies are currently embracing social media as part of their online marketing strategy. The research gives evidence regarding detailed use of the latter by those companies. There are four main social networking sites they are focusing on analysing. It is by now a known fact that Top 100 puts together the most respected and renowned names, which also have access to the best resources due to the large budget they have in hands to manage. For traditional marketing, this has always given them a boost. The question now is: can their resources still represent that great an advantage when it comes to their online marketing strategy and their involvement in creating a strong online brand? There are voices saying social media marketing is about using the right strategy and getting it implemented in the right way, and the budget allocated is less important. The study analyses their use of four of the largest social networking channels: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Business Blogs.

The percentage chart of Fortune 100 companies’ use of new media was revealed by Burson-Marsteller. They have identified four channels as being most used. They are the following: Twitter (65%), Facebook (54%), YouTube (50%) and Blogs (33%).

The study firstly investigated the percentage of companies using at least one of the four social networking channels. Results prove there is a difference in their use as referring to their geographical coverage. Therefore, European companies are leading, 88% of them using at least one, while the US has 86% and Asia only 50%. These results can be considered a bit surprising, since most people assume the US should lead when it comes to online use.

However, when it analysed companies using all four online community sites, the study concluded that the US was the one to lead. 28% of the US companies are using all four, while only 15% of the European companies are using all four. 25% of the Asian companies are also using all four channels.

The Top 100 companies’ one week activity on Twitter was also investigated. It was concluded that 82% of them are tweeting company news, 38% are responding to people’s tweets and only 32% are re-tweeting. One may say they are doing a better job at promoting themselves than actually listening and responding to their audience. Therefore, their customer service orientation looks to be a bit lower than most would expect. Most of them are however missing two very important steps of social media: listen and respond.

It is worth noticing that a large number of their followers are re-tweeting their news. The research proves that 32% of the tweets coming from Fortune Global 100 companies are re-tweeted.

Facebook was the second social networking site analysed. Percentages show companies are more involved on Facebook. After analysing their one week activity and interactions from the Facebook Fan Pages, the study proves that 59% of the companies have posts of their company and 43% have posts from fans. In addition to this, 51% also have likes from fans and 41% have posts with comments from fans. The average number of fans per page is about 40,884 fans per account.

Next, the study focused on was YouTube. Their one month interaction on this channel was analysed. The research concludes that 68% of the companies uploaded new videos and 76% of channels also got feedback from viewers.

Last but not least, the study analysed the Top 100 companies’ blogging interaction. Their activity for one month was investigated. This one revealed a rather low involvement of companies. 36% of corporate blogs had posts during that month and 54% of them had comments.

In addition to the four social networking sites investigated, the study gave an overview of the companies’ average number of accounts per company for each of the four communities. They have found that the average number of accounts per company was 4.2 Twitter accounts, 2.1 Facebook accounts, 1.8 YouTube channels and 4.2 blogs running.

Briefly, the results the results of the research conclude that the Top 100 Fortune companies are actively using Social Media channels to catch their targeted audience attention. More than 85% of Fortune 100 American and European companies are using at least one channel and all over the globe more than 80% tweet company news on a regular basis. When it comes to their Facebook presence, one can conclude it has been successful, with an average Fan base of more than 40K per account. In addition to this, they are not neglecting the influence of videos. Around 70% of them upload company videos time to time and their followers do comment on the videos. Blogging is not used that effectively. With the increase in people using social networks for expressing more and more it is important for all the businesses to start listening and engaging their loyal customers online.

Some companies, especially the smaller ones, are wary of social media and cannot figure out the right way to use it. Some business owners are outright scared of using social media, but once these business owners overcome their fear, it’s time to act. Here are the tips for companies beginning their journey in social media.

Get a Foothold: Select one social media network that you are most comfortable with or that is the most relevant to your company or products, and create an account and a public profile. While you may eventually want to create a presence on more than one social media site, you don’t need to feel out of depth right in the beginning.

Learn the Ropes: Observe how others, including your competition, are participating on the social media platform that you have chosen. Write down what seems to work and what does not, and what you like and what you do not. Take special note of how people interact. What’s the tone of the conversations? Is it a one-way conversation?

Make a Plan: What do you want to gain from your social media interactions? Think through your goals – it’s one thing to participate in social media but to do so without a plan can be frustrating and even damaging to your business. Reverse engineer a process that will accomplish what you are aiming to do.

Be a part of the Buzz: An important part of any effective media campaign is keeping track of who is talking about your company, what is being said, and how others are reacting to it. Utilising good social media monitoring tools will not only help you stay on top of this…it may even find you new business opportunities.

Be Social: Even though you are representing a business, don’t ignore the importance of the “social” aspect. And don’t think you need to be all business, all the time. Allow your interactions to retain the human side that will facilitate genuine connections. Giving a personal feel to your presence will make your business more approachable and relatable.

Respond to Society: There is nothing worse than a business attempting to be active across social media, but ignoring the general public. Once you commit to a social media marketing campaign, you should also commit to responding to questions, complaints and other input from your existing and potential customers.

Get Feedback: Ask for feedback, reviews and insight to help you reach your target more effectively. One powerful use for social media in business is as a customer service tool. Instead of waiting for a customer to air a complaint, use social media as a way to engage and interact with your audience. And be sure to thank everyone who chimes in individually.

Consistency is Key: Your profiles, comments, posts and conversations should stay true to your company’s overall mission and values. If more than one person is posting on behalf of your company, it’s vital to have a standard tone and guidelines for consistency. Once you expand your reach to more than one social media site, consistency is even more important.

Hire an Agency: Agencies can bring added scale and expertise. Social media is a commitment, and it requires manpower to interact with thousands of fans, tweets, comments, and more. Rather than leaving it completely to the interns, agencies can help provide added scale from people with expertise in the space. A good social media strategy firm would really know what they’re doing. Their accumulated resources, accounts, profiles and contacts will take campaigns to the top, to properly build company-related social media assets, and to get the buzz heading in the right direction.

Social media sites change their procedures regularly. What works today to get a front-page story on Digg or massive “retweets” on Twitter may not work tomorrow. A company who is deeply embedded, who breathes social media every day, can be a tremendous benefit. It’s normally less expensive to hire a firm to do social media marketing compared to hiring an individual or team to work exclusively for a company.

Small or large brands have their own Facebook Fan Page, few Twitter accounts, a blog and strong presence on various other social networking sites. But how do you find out if your social media strategy is effective? Return on investment (ROI) is what most would like to look into as to measure their social media success. But it seems to be very difficult to capture the right metrics of your social media campaign and transpose them into ROI. In one of our prior posts, we have analysed the most important metrics one should monitor from social media. We were mentioning there: Visitors and Sources of Traffic, Level of Engagement & Bounce Rate, Membership on Social Network & Activity Ratio, Brand mentions in social media, Conversions, Loyalty and Blog interaction. However, these metrics don’t make the process of measuring ROI easier. This topic has been recently highly analysed by social media experts. Some have gone so far as to say it is impossible to measure ROI, others have concluded it is a mistake to try to put Social media and ROI together. Nevertheless, we would like to suggest few steps that would make your ROI measurement easier:

1. Define Your Goals! Clear goals should be the first thing to consider when deciding to create your business an online presence. A coherent and distinct idea of what you are looking to achieve through your social media strategy will make it easier for you to decide which are the key performance indicators you need to follow throughout.

2. Design Your Plan! Once you have decided which are your goals, your next step is to design a strategy. You need to always keep in mind how your strategy achieves your objectives. Choose the right channel (make sure you know how to measure the effectiveness of those channels), the right message and the right form.

3. Implement Your Strategy! You have decided what you want from your social media strategy, how you will achieve itnow it’s time to actually do it! As you will soon notice, plans and reality don’t always go hand in hand. You might need to adjust your strategy on the way as to improve it.

4. Use The Right Metrics Tools! You know your metrics, but to get it right, learn about the right tools. Make a habit out of using tools such as Google Analytics, Omniture, HootSuite analytics and PostRank analytics. Throughout time put together the data you need to measure as to see the evolution on a weekly/monthly/yearly basis.

5. Include Sentiment Analysis! Because social media is all about communication, online reputation management and the attachment your brand gets from your fans, sentiment analysis should be included in the data you’re gathering to later on analyse your ROI. Again, make sure you are using the right tools to analyse! The accuracy of the results influences the decisions you will make regarding your business. Some of the tools are: Sentiment Metrics, Viral Heat or Tweet Feel.

6. Gather Your Data! Now that you have the data, put it together and see how it correlates to your level of sales, customer retention or new customer acquisition. It’s not an easy task, but it’s not impossible either. If you know from the very beginning your goals and metrics you want to focus on measuring, you will be able to measure the results from your ROI.

According to a survey carried out by Mzinga and Babson Executive Education in August 2009, 84% of social media programs don’t measure return on investment. However, most businesses have integrated social media in their online marketing strategy. What are your thoughts on measuring impact of social media through ROI? Have you tried it? If yes, how did you do it?

Part of Jewish culture is a love of food. Some say that Jews love their food more than their drink! The meal is something to look forward to at a Jewish wedding or barmitzvah, and an opportunity to sample tantalizing culinary delights. Throwing a party is like show business, and to become a good host, and ensure all runs smoothly, it is recommended to hand the job over to a dedicated team of professional kosher caterers.

These “full-service” catering companies specialize in organizing wedding and barmitzvah parties and nothing else. They design and customize your function and manage every meticulous detail of your party from inception through to fruition. With the help of a specialized team, you have the opportunity to relax and let them make your doo an exciting, memorable and successful one.

What does the term Kosher mean?
In their most “biblical” form, Jewish Dietary Laws state:
Pork, rabbit, eagle, owl, catfish, sturgeon, and any shellfish, insect or reptile are non-kosher.
Other species of meat and fowl must be slaughtered in a prescribed manner to be kosher.
Meat and dairy products may not be made or consumed together.

A kosher food that is processed or cooked together with a non-kosher food, or any derivative of a non-kosher food, becomes non-kosher. For example, food coloring derived from a shellfish and used in a cake makes the cake non-kosher.

While Jewish Dietary Laws originated in the Bible (Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 17), they have been codified and interpreted over the centuries by rabbinical authorities. Likewise, definitions of kosher have evolved in response to changes in the food industry, the Jewish People, and world culture.

As Jews lived in and adopted food traditions from different countries around the world and as different denominations of Judaism developed, Jewish definitions of kosher have become more varied over time. There are different Jewish ethnic cultures, different branches within Judaism, and various Jewish kosher certifying authorities in the United Kingdom that certify “kosher” based on rules that vary from each other.

Some Jews today consider Jewish Dietary Laws to be ancient health regulations that are no longer necessary as a result of modern methods of food preparation. Others are not knowledgeable about kosher laws. And others yet, who may view Jewish Dietary Laws as important but may chose not to observe them because of the added expense and inconvenience their observance can entail. However if you are planning your wedding at a United synagogue, they will not usually allow the chuppah to take place unless the wedding party itself is a kosher affair.

Whether you opt for kosher, or kosher-style (non-offensive) catering, you will find some venues have exclusive contracts with one or a selection of caterers, so this is worth checking out before you decide on a venue.

A Master of Ceremonies (MC) or toastmaster usually presents performers, speaks to the guests and generally keeps an event moving. They take the worry and strain away from the hosts so that the families and guests can relax and enjoy themselves.

Here’s what they do:

They greet the bride and groom on their arrival to the wedding reception. Direct guests to all the facilities available at the wedding venue. Assist the photographer and the videographer in gathering members of the bridal party for family portraits. When all the guests are seated they will announce the entrance of the bride and groom.

After the meal they will introduce grace, sheva braches and the cutting of the cake. They will announce the speeches ensuring that the photographer and videographer are ready to capture the action.

And they will wind the function down gracefully at the end of the evening. As a photographer I have attended many functions with and without a toastmaster. Those without are often shambolic with guests often taking 30 minutes to go in for dinner, planned timings for the event going out of the window leaving no time for dancing at the end, and speeches announced without some members of the wedding party even being in the room. Some families are reluctant to hire a toastmaster because they don’t want all the pomp and ceremony of a man in a red jacket. Remember that the toast master can wear black tails, a dinner suit or whatever you think will blend in at your function. Also there are lady MC’s who cast their own charm and glamour on proceedings.

A master of ceremonies can make or break a wedding reception. They each have different personalities and styles, so take the opportunity to meet them and see if their manner fits in with your event.

While many of today’s most popular wedding gowns are sexier and more revealing than ever, styles that show too much skin – like strapless, backless and low-cut gowns may not be kosher under the chuppah. Below, are some guidelines for keeping on the right side of the Rabbi whilst retaining your sense of fashion and style.

Requirements

When it comes to bridal attire, the three major denominations of Judaism – Reform, United, and Orthodox – have different requirements. Reform Judaism has few, if any, restrictions on dress. United synagogues usually require that a bride’s shoulders be covered and no jewellery worn, while Orthodoxy places even greater restrictions on attire such as wearing dresses with long or three-quarter length sleeves, high-cut necklines, ankle-length skirts, and covered backs.

The following guidelines should help you find a gown that makes you look elegant and stylish, but check with your Rabbi first. Rules regarding bridal attire can vary even among synagogues within the same denomination.

Go Undercover

Covered shoulders is the most common requirement for brides marrying in a United synagogue. Most brides find a strapless or spaghetti-strap gown that comes with a wrap or bolero-style jacket. This provides coverage for the ceremony which can simply be removed for the reception.

Make a Change

Finally, if you think you’ve found the perfect dress – but the neckline is too low, the sleeves are too short, and so on – ask someone at the bridal shop if the designer can alter the dress. Of course, you can’t turn a sexy, spaghetti-strap sheath into a demure ball gown, so be realistic. Some designers have styles that come in both short and long sleeved incarnations. Most others will make slight alterations, such as putting short sleeves on a sleeveless dress or raising a neckline an inch or two.

Pure Colour

A few final thoughts before you buy: Avoid gowns with too much colour. In Jewish custom, a white wedding dress symbolizes spiritual purity. But if white’s not your colour, don’t worry. As you can see on the Weddings section of our website, we have photographed brides in a variety of shades from the most delicate duck egg blue, to lemon and cappuccino. Also, ask the bridal shop to reinforce the hooks and straps that will hold the train in place for the Israeli dancing. Although we attend weddings with loads of safety pins and a needle & thread, our temporary attempts to hold the train up are not much better than the flimsey hook and eyes provided by most dress designers. And lastly, check that you can dance and move in your dress. It is all very well posing in front of the mirror at the bridal shop, but if your dress stops you from partying and having fun it can ruin your special day.

With Hayley snapping your every move from getting dressed until the party finishes, having a bad hair day is not an option. Whether you aspire to a traditional, modern, casual or off-the-wall interpretation of the blushing bride you should aim to look like an A-list celebrity version of yourself and not arrive under the Chuppah or at the alter virtually unrecognisable. The real secret of looking beautiful on your big day is to relax and keep it simple.

A trial run with the dress, veil or headdress, hair and make-up worn together are essential and best staged a couple of months before the wedding just in case they don’t mesh as envisaged and you need to rethink.

The shape of the neckline of your dress is key when considering your hairstyle. With strapless gowns almost anything goes as far as wearing hair up or down, as the issue of obscuring some detail of the dress with cascading curls doesn’t arise.

High necklines and halter-necks will work best with hair-ups, bobs or short styles. A sleek chignon is a timeless and elegant way to wear long hair without being too over the top and overpowering. Anything too contrived or cutting edge will date really quickly which is not ideal if your wedding day portraits are to be displayed prominently on the mantelpiece for years to come.

Whatever your chosen hair do, try introducing some interesting detail, such as flowers or bejewelled slides to make it a real winner. One of the most common mistakes that brides make with their hair on the big day is believing that the hair comb, which usually comes attached to the veil, will hold it in place all day – it won’t! Make sure your chief bridesmaid has an emergency kit with a small can of hairspray and a few hair grips to keep your hair under control all day long.

If you’re getting married outdoors or on a beach, it’s best to go with a style that works with the elements, rather than against them. Anything heavily styled will look too stiff and contrived so go for a wavy look instead.

In our experience, many hair dressers are inexperienced when it comes to wedding hair. A style that looks beautiful in the mirror when getting dressed, but within a couple of hours is limp or flat just won’t make the grade. Ask for recommendations from friends who have recently got married, and in particular whether their hairstyle lasted all day.

For years we have recommended Tina Maynard to our brides for their hair, but for various reasons she has decided to take a break from the wedding circuit for the time being. Another hairdresser who we have worked with regularly is Alan, and he can be contacted on 07885 361600.
