Have you ever sampled the delights of a real Cuban cigar? Probably not, though you’ve heard about them everywhere. Unfortunately, a Cuban cigar humidor is not an option if you are an American. These cigars are made exclusively in Cuba and are said to be one of the finest cigars in the world. Even the cigar rollers in Cuba are said to be of such high caliber, that to smoke a true Cuban is a delicacy. Cuban cigars are labeled with the patriotic motto “Hecho en Cuba”, or made in Cuba.

The possession of Cuban cigars has been a crime in America ever since the ultra-patriotic 1960s. In the year 1962, President Kennedy ordered a trade embargo act against Cuba and Fidel Castro because of anti-communist Cold War as well as Cuba’s aggressive support of the U.S.S.R. What really destroyed the relationship between the U.S. and Cuba?

It all goes back to JFK’s war against Fidel Castro’s communist regime. When Cuba seized control of the island in 1959, also choosing to confiscate private property, he made a lot of enemies-many of which were top U.S. officials. When the Cold War between U.S. and Russia was at its worse, Cuba supported the Soviets, going so far as to allow them to create missile bases on their island. (This would mean a severe blow to the southern United States) The U.S. was so upset about this move that they tried to assassinate Castro several times, resorting even to poisoned cigars (now isn’t that a way to go?)

Couldn’t the U.S. just let bygones be bygones and lift the ban? If they did, it would mean supporting communism and a man who was once considered the ultimate threat to democracy. So while they could, they probably won’t. Not only is Cuba a communist country, but reversing the trade embargo would be a complicated and controversial move. Not only has the U.S. kept the embargo act as is, but they have actually come down even harder. They still maintain the right to prosecute American citizens who acquire these cigars-regardless of where in the world the transaction happens!

While petitions are continually brought on for consideration, the future for legal Cuban cigars doesn’t look bright. In fact, given recent changes in California legislation, U.S. citizens are far likelier to get their hands on a blunt than anything rolled by a Cuban
Torcedore.

Tour operators specializing in gay travel are taking the world by storm and now allow gays to travel together in small groups. Lesbians and gay men can now travel together and have pleasurable gay travel to Turkey with other gay and lesbian groups, singles and couples.

Turkey has a growing gay population and over the last 10 or so years, gay Turkish men have been interacting with other gays and lesbians around the globe.Hence, the growth in the gay and lesbian travel market.

The gay bars and clubs have also started publishing their own business websites which would have English pages for gay visitors from other countries.

Turkey is predominantly Muslim, but they have an easy-going approach in comparison to other Islamic countries towards homosexual people. Turkey is very western and progressive in allowing gay men and women to enjoy a freedom to express themselves and access to promising careers and experiencing romantic intimacy.

Tour groups for gay vacations to Turkey allow no more than 15 people and are suited to travelers that are flexible, fun loving and enjoy meeting and interacting with new people and who will approach new cultures they visit with a sense of adventure and curiosity. The cozy tour groups offer an intimacy and camaraderie amongst travelers where they bond and become lifelong friends. If you are adventurous, like to meet new people and seeing new places small group gay vacations to Turkey are perfect for you.

These exciting gay vacations to Turkey are up market and offer delicious meals and up market accommodation in conjunction with professional tours. Themes for the tours include easy adventure filled trips, cultural and historical sightseeing, party vibe or quiet safaris or romantic cruises as well as nature walks.

Gay tour companies offer travel packages fashioned from insightful cultural sightseeing as well as outdoor activities. They take you places that are off the beaten track and you will also visit some exciting, well-trodden spots where you will see a unique subtlety that most tourists will never get to see.

Tour operators allow you to create your own tour if you cannot find a suitable package on the website suitable to your schedule where you can create your very own itinerary. Choose from the normal tour guides and books to create your own itinerary. Pick from any or all of the sights mentioned or request a place that was not mentioned, anywhere in Turkey. Greek Islands tours and Blue voyage cruises within Turkey are offered for private groups, big or small to fit in with your vacation period.

Rest assured that in planning your own gay vacation to Turkey, all major tourist attractions are connected with public bus transport, be it long distance or short distance.

The railway system is not as comprehensive and is not the most comfortable. Domestic flights are offered between Istanbul and all the other local and all international airports. Charter flights are rare and available only during peak tourism seasons.

When you plan a gay trip to Turkey, book in advance, especially if you plan on going during peak season in order to avoid delays on any requirements for flights and accommodation.

My friend has a shop that sells glass artwork. My personal favourite glass artwork is paperweights and I have a lot of pleasure attending art auctions and buying art glass with her. We pay close attention to what our friends and her clients like and dislike.

I often give people art glass paperweights that I find at art auctions for special birthdays and anniversaries. My mother turned seventy last August and I found a magnificent glass paperweight for her.

The art glass paperweight that I found for my mother was made by Baccarat and I was extremely lucky that this was one of the last items auctioned. A lot of people had already left the auction when this item went on the block. My mother really liked the rose motif because the rose is her favourite flower.

I have a Dutch friend from Den Bosch who loves effigies of frogs. She has managed to decorate her abode very stylishly with her favourite frogs. I have been on the lookout for an art glass paperweight for her for years. I finally found one at an art auction last year. The glass paperweight featured a frog sitting on a lily pad surrounded by blue water. It was really pretty and my friend began using it on her desk immediately.

I also have an aunt who collects art glass paperweights. She has asked me very often to find glass paperweights for her when I am attending art auctions. Of all of the pieces I have bought for her over the years, one sticks out in my memory more than any other.

The prettiest art glass paperweight I have ever won at an art auction has to be one that featured a blue and gold Macaw. Rick Ayotte was the artist that made it and it was even featured in a book of his work. He has created many lovely art glass paperweights.

There is no difficulty at all selling art glass paperweights made by Rick Ayotte. His work seems to draw a great deal of interest. My friend tries to win any auction she finds for art glass paperweights made by him. She won one not so long ago that looked like pink roses. They looked so fragile and sweet. I know that this art glass paperweight will sell quickly.

There have been some inquiries at the shop for art glass paperweights by Richard Marquis, although we have not found any in any of the art auctions we have attended recently.

I will keep looking out for art glass paperweights at the auctions I attend, but I will not be going way out of my way to track them down. I now buy every art glass paperweight I can find that was made by Rick Satava. My favorite has to be the coral orange jellyfish that I found at an art auction an hour from my home. It was really beautiful.

Seaside holidays are extremely popular which is why every year, millions of tourists head for seaside beaches. Perhaps you like coastal holidays too. seaside holidays are fabulous, but that can be the problem too, because it frequently means overcrowding, queuing, rubbish and noise. Have you ever thought about renting your own private coastal cottage? Many only dream about it, but it is not that difficult or costly to arrange actually.

One item to bear in mind is that, public beaches are well-known and that is why they get too busy. However, private coastal cottages are often secluded or on private beaches, which makes for a much quieter holiday. Often, local people living only miles from the cottage do not know that they exist. In spite of this, most coastal cottages do not cost a lot of money to rent.

These coastal cottages are to be had in many countries around the world. They are unquestionably very popular in Britain, Europe and the United States. The level of privacy and the amenities available will depend on where you go. A coastal cottage in Wales will give you a very different holiday than a coastal cottage in southern France or Coney Island.

Many coastal cottages are located near a popular holiday destination. Not right in the middle of the location, but normally a few miles or less outside, so that you can easily drive in or even walk in, if you want some livelier entertainment. Typical coastal cottage leisure activities include swimming, sailing, fishing and walking.

Naturally, one of the important considerations when renting a cottage is the rental fee itself. Now the funny thing is that is not nearly such a big consideration as you might think it would be. The macro location is more important than the micro location. As a result, Wales might be cheaper than the south of France, but within Wales itself, there is not a huge variation in price, when you equate like with like. Clearly, a five-bedroomed coastal cottage will be more expensive than a three-bedroomed one.

Another situation worth looking into is the ownership of the coastal cottage. Is it owned by a private individual who lives near-by or is it owned by a large business. Is the cottage a real, original cottage or is it a new, mock cottage building? If it is old, is it connected with anyone famous or a famous event? Knowing these facts can all heighten your enjoyment.

Make sure that you are given some maps or drawings so that you can find the place easily. Particularly if you are going to the cottage in the evening or in the dark. Things often look far different at night than in the daylight, and if your chosen cottage is in a secluded spot, there may not be any street lighting

Finally, get hold of some pictures of inside and outside the coastal cottage you ultimately decide on and then book it early, because the best coastal cottages go earlier and earlier every year as this form of vacationing becomes ever more popular.

Owen Jones, the writer of this article, writes on many topics, but is currently involved with the rental of Welsh coastal cottages.

There is one particular scene on one particular movie that I would like anyone who has ever voted Democratic to watch. The movie is a documentary about the cartel that runs the education system, specifically in New Jersey. The scene is about a lottery drawing for slots in a charter school showing the faces of children whose names have been drawn, and those who were not so lucky. Both are in tears, but are crying for different reasons. The scene focuses on a child weeping for her loss.

Jeannette Catsoulis, a movie critic for the New York Times, describes the scene as a result of the movie director’s “emotional coercion,” and goes on to saying that the weeping child as “another tiny victim of public school hell,” as if not being chosen to get a good education is something trivial.

It is unlikely for anyone without any political or personal stake in the corruption of the teachers’ unions of New Jersey to watch the scene and not be moved. It is not unheard of that in many schools, both teachers and students are victims of corruption, contributing to the increasing number of children leaving schools quite unprepared for the “real world.” But no one can blame the movie’s director for acting like nobody has cared enough to delve on the activities of the cartel on the public education system and expose them.

It is encouraging to note that since the movie came out, people have started taking steps in keeping themselves informed about how more and more of the taxpayers’ money and government funds are being allotted and spent by the cartel on education. On a recent school-budget election in New Jersey, residents rejected over half of the budgets on the ballot.

It seems that education budgets are no longer held as something inviolable in the state of New Jersey. Motivated by that fact, New Jersey Governor Christopher J. Christie took on the education cartel like no previous holder of his office has done before. Although it would facilitate the resolution of this issue if he were to tackle it with the same gusto and assertiveness he shows on the other issues he is undertaking.

It is worth to note that at the beginning of the film, the director’s credibility to tackle such a powerful issue is immediately established-after all, doesn’t being a local TV reporter in New Jersey carry more reliability in exposing the truth than any other profession?

The director also makes it easy for the audience to understand the flurry of statistics concerning education funding by the government, tax revenues, comparisons of New Jersey educational outcomes with other states and other countries, and so on.

The New Jersey teachers are in a panic now, as evidenced by this movie and the countless reports about how they are berating Governor Christie. Hopefully, the movie does not inspire only the cartel on education to act, but also those who have yet to do something about alleviating it. We owe the countless children who feel exactly the same as the weeping child in the movie that much.

Westfield Patch: The Cartel comes to Westfield again. A film by Bob Bowdon.

Any small town is a study of the small decisions that shape it. And those decisions, made by residents and businesspeople and the government that runs it, often take it in directions it might never have seemed able to go. But there it is: sometimes towns grow all on their own, and it seems like there’s nothing to be done but watch the changes, like a rebellious teenager. Sometimes, of course, it’s time to make big decisions too.

Up in the Pacific Northwest is a town called Hoquiam, Washington. It was born and raised a logging and exporting town. It has maintained this identity through annual events like parades and logging competitions and an internationally popular event called Loggers’ Playday. All of which has served it well enough, but what will it do when faced with the possibility for growth?

This growth would occur along the Hoquiam waterfront, the part of downtown running along the Hoquiam River. What to do with riverside property is a question many towns face, and for cities with developed waterfronts like San Antonio and Baltimore, the investment was met with great success. An underused area became, in a few years, a popular area full of restaurants and bars, hotels and shopping, entertainment of all kinds.

The waterfront hasn’t been much in vogue since the 1980s, but recent development interest has revived a discussion about how best to use that area. There is a lot to consider, because of course this is tax money going into any new project. It’s important to review options and decide, as a community, how best to use and area, and who best to head up that development — a decision that can’t be taken too lightly.

Another consideration worth a moment is the relationship to Aberdeen, the larger city to the east. This relationship, like probably all neighboring towns, is one of friendly rivalry. And rivalry often does good things for innovation. The tow is at the mouth of the river, right on Grays Harbor, so it has opportunities no other town in the area does.

So as it moves forward, it has to think about how it can preserve its history but stay modern. How it can have a heritage that informs its future. It’s a question all small towns at some point have to face, and while it doesn’t mean Hoquiam has to become a metropolis, it at least has to face some grown-up decisions.

Critics of abstinence only programs such as True Love Waits often accuse them of being “fear based. What these critics may actually mean is that they don’t want students to be fearful of the truth that condoms will not protect them against HPV, and that they provide poor protection from several other STDs. Is telling the truth about condom effectiveness really an inappropriate use of fear?

What constitutes fear? When does caution become fear? Is a program fear based if it discloses the social and economic costs of adolescent pregnancy? Is a program fear based if it truthfully tells teens that condoms provide little or no protection and against the skin based STDs: herpes and HPV? Why is telling the truth labeled as fear based?

Or do critics of abstinence education simply use the label, fear based, to smear the abstinence movement, True Love Waits included? A case in point is the slide presentation produced by the Medical Institute (MI). Critics of abstinence Ed label the material as fear based. Yet the statistics used come directly from the Centers for Disease Control, the National Institute for Health and other peer-reviewed studies. Is education students about peer reviewed studies an inappropriate use of fear?

One must ask critics of abstinence education if there is ever a place for legitimate fear. Fear can be interchanged with caution. Calling True Love Waits “fear based” assumes there is never a place for legitimate fear. In truth, entire generations of Americans have avoided various risky behaviors because of the fear of the consequences. Why is fear of the consequences of risky behavior a bad thing? Potential negative outcomes should be viewed with caution or fear.

Society uses fear or caution to discourage teens form drinking and driving as well as smoking. Images of Car wreaks and cancerous lungs are viewed by teens… None of those programs have been accused of being “fear based.” Those programs show the reality of the consequences of the risky behavior portrayed. Teens should a degree of fear and respect for the consequences of drinking and driving. No one would debate that. Why then is it unhealthy for teens to have a degree of fear and respect for the consequences of teen sex. Shouldn’t a thirteen year old be fearful of becoming pregnant or of becoming a negative statistic? What is so wrong about warning teens about the realities they may face should they become sexually active? Perhaps there is nothing wrong with it. Perhaps the “rightness” of it is what has angered the critics of True Love Waits and other abstinence programs.

What is the educational option? Should educators leave out the negative consequences of teen sex in order to avoid the label of being “fear based”? No, it is better to warn teens about real consequences that to smooth over those consequences in order to be politically correct. Abstinence education and True Love Waits are not fear based, they are reality based.

Keith Deltano is powerfuland innovative youth speaker . He uses a unusual show to impactteens at True Love Waits rallies throughout the nation.

Fantasy weapons are often named so simply as an aspect of psychological warfare. The purpose was to strengthen the confidence of the wielder in his weapon, or the weapon itself through different means. Thor, the Viking god of war, is distinctive only because of his hammer, Mjolnir. Excalibur was the main instrument King Arthur of Camelot ascended the throne of England. Without it, he cannot be England's rightful heir to the throne after Uther Pendragon, his father. The symbolic sword Kusanagi is one of Japan's Imperial Regalia, symbols of the Emperor's divine descent.
Provided by Helping Articles - Why Fantasy Weapons Are Fantastic

Fantasy weapons are often named so simply as an aspect of psychological warfare. It served to bolster the power of the wielder or the importance of the weapon in varied ways. For example, Thor without his magic hammer Mjolnir cannot be a god, only a simple smith. Excalibur was the main instrument King Arthur of Camelot ascended the throne of England. The sword actually proved his lineage to kingship after Uther Pendragon who was his father. In Asia, any Japanese family’s claim to the royal throne is bolstered by possession of the Imperial Regalia which includes the sword Kusanagi.

Such swords and weapons are often imbued with magical powers to improve the owner’s or wielder’s invincibility. Durendal, Roland’s indestructible sword, was said to be his most trusted companion. The Welsh legends has the sword Dyrnwyn, which was said to burst into flames on use and helps the user if the purpose is good, but burns the holder if he intends to use it for evil aims. Meantime, the Irish has Fragarach, the sword that can penetrate all kinds of medieval armour that are otherwise unaffected by ordinary weapons.

For the fantasy weapons of the Twentieth Century, two world war weapons that may termed fantastic are the Me262 or Me163, as well as the Paris Gun. The Me262 was the first-ever jetfighter to fly the skies and bring down enemy airplanes (the RAF Gloster ‘Meteor’, a similarly-designed jet fighter, did not reach air combat operations until late 1944) . The Swallow began combat operations in the middle of 1944, and one 262 damaged a Mosquito in 26 July as the jetplane’s first combat win. In contrast, the Meteor scored its first wins when it downed two V1 weapons on August 4, 1944. The rocket-armed Komet, a jetplane faster than the Swallow, saw limited role in the air war and did not figure prominently in it.

Meantime, the Paris Gun (Paris-Geschtz) was a long-barrel siege gun used to pound Paris, 120 kilometers away, in World War 1. The primary purposes was to instill terror in the hearts of Parisiennes so French resistance to German advance would weaken. Maybe the objective was achieved, because the citizens of Paris first believed they were being hammered by a new kind of super airweapon because there was no noise before the shells fell. On the other hand, Paris was not evacuated by civilians, and the German Army failed to occupy the city.

Fantasy weapons are by definition the fanciful or fantastic, or at least thought to be so. They should be extraordinary or even supernatural enough to be exceptional over similar ordinary weapons. Legend, fictional or real, fantasy weapons serve to bolster the confidence of the wielder, inspire the nation or group, and create a hero figure which aspiring minds can identify with. In stories and books, heroes using such weapons are usually triumphant or come to a tragic, romantic end such as Roland, but in real life, fantastic weapons most times fail to achieve the lofty purposes they were made for.

Do you have a hobby that you like to carry out out of doors or are you eternally stuck to the chair in front of your PC? If you never go out, then that is a shame and you ought to take that common piece of guidance and get out more often .

And do what? – you may ask. Yes, well that is your concern, is it not? But there are hundreds if not thousands of things that you can do in the open air and they are all better than sitting down in front of your computer no matter what you are doing with your PC.

I will confess that I spend too much time at my desk, although, in my defense, I will say that that is how I make my living. However, I do like to get out-of-doors sometimes too. I live in a country where foreigners, such as myself, are not allowed to own or carry anything that might be construed as a weapon. This includes penknives as well.

When I go out into the glorious countryside it is only to stroll with my wife and look for animals – mostly snakes and birds.. However, I have had a lifelong fascination for archery.

Something within me desires to be able to hit a target from a long distance. I do not want to kill anything, but I am alright with people who do so long as it is for a good reason.

It would be fantastic to make a bow and the arrows to accompany it. I am Welsh and have always wanted a Welsh longbow, although it requires a great deal of strength to pull a longbow. The minimum draw weight in medieval times used to be 160 lbs for a war bow, for hunting it was 100 lbs, but these days it is more like 60 lbs.

However, this is still pretty heavy for modern man, who does not usually pick up anything weightier than a pint of beer.

There are some fantastic archery dealers, but if you do not live near one, you should go on line and either place an order from there or have a catalogue sent to you. Two good places to start are ‘Footed Shaft’ and ‘Three Rivers’ archery suppliers.

Both of these companies will send you your chosen goods through the post and they have any type of archery equipment that you could require. For example, they have finished goods such as bows and arrows, but they also supply nocks, feathers, arrow shafts and points so that you can create your own arrows.

Do you want to make your own bow too? No problem. You can either buy a kit with all the bits and instructions or you can buy a book or DVD and buy the parts yourself.

These and other on line archery supplies dealers provide good value for money and have very comprehensive stocks of archery goods. Their catalogues and web sites are easy to browse and use as well.

Owen Jones, the author of this article writes on various subjects, but is presently concerned with archery recurve bows.
