Fibromyalgia – Why Can’t I Get a Straight Answer?

I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who have read my articles and responded, telling me that they’ve suffered from fibromyalgia symptoms for years and never knew that they might have fibromyalgia because their doctor never offered it up as a possible illness category.

Even though my clients had information and knowledge about fibromyalgia, it was very difficult for them to convince their doctor’s about the condition.

On a average it takes five years for a fibromyalgia patient to be diagnosed with this disease. The major reason for this is fibromyaligia is very hard to diagnose.

A person can get muscle pain of stiffness even if he works hard in gym. It could have also caused by rheumatoid arthritis. Therefore, it is very hard to diagnose fibromyalgia. This disease share the same symptoms with most of the other illness.

Abdominal pains including vomiting and nausea could be a really bad chicken salad sandwich, a more serious digestive track issue or. you guessed it! Fibromyalgia.

It is like insomniacs. People who are affected by fibromyalgia can also have fatigue and lack of sleep.

Like an endless cycle, those sleepless nights lead to less energy and soon that loss can affect a person’s drive and motivation.

Unfortunately these are also the symptoms of stress and insomnia. Due to these factors the affected person will feel like he is paralyzed and he fells into depression.

Difficulty in concentrating, (a symptom shared with dementia), chest pain (also a signal of heart related issues, mood changes (frequently associated with premenstrual syndrome or menopause) and dry eyes and dizziness (both early signs of vision problems) are also the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

With so many symptoms that mimic so many other diseases, disorders, dysfunctions and maladies, it’s understandable why it might take years for your doctor or health care provider to reach an accurate diagnosis, especially if your doctor (like so many out there) fails to recognize fibromyalgia as a legitimate condition.

At last when a person gets diagnosed with fibromyalgia the next problem begins. It is the long list of confusing treatments.

While many resort to doctor’s offices, appointments and medications, there are many others that are able to get significant results from changes to their daily rituals.

Examples of this include: eating a nutritious and balanced diet, maintaining normal weight and including daily exercise, learning to cope with stress and dedicating time each day to simply do something relaxing.

The fibromyalgia treatment is primarily associated with medicines to ease pain, while including a self care program that will reduce the symptoms by improving the total health of the body.
