The HTC Wildfire Reviewed

The HTC has replaced the Tattoo with the Android 2.1 HTC Wildfire phone, which imbibes characteristics of both Desire and Nexus One phones. Powered by a 528 MHz Qualcomm processor and a 3.2 inch touch screen, the Wildfire uses enhanced 384 MB-RAM and a 5 megapixel camera as improvements from previous HTC phones.

The design of the Wildfire bears uncanny resemblances to two Android phones. The shiny black texture with touch buttons adorning its exterior is definitely inherited from the Nexus One. Similarly, accessories such as the earpiece, optical trackpad and overall body frame structure will remind you of the HTC Desire.

To access the battery, you need to peel the cover from the top. The chin and frame wedge has an irregular cut, somewhat spoiling its chic look.

There are a few amazing features of the Wildfire which make it much-in-demand. Some of these include built-in Flash Lite, Friend Stream Widget to locate friends, an intuitive text highlighting tool and a Leap button for flipping through pages.

The Wildfire provides 12 hours battery supply which is pretty amazing considering the fact that it includes making regular phone calls, text messages apart from accommodating occasional music, video recording and Web browsing.

The Bluetooth, FM radio and other audio file formats are well supported to perform various actions. The microphone of the Wildfire may appear a tad disconcerting, but the great hands free kit for earphone plugs makes up for all that.

Talking of the keyboard, the Wildfire disappoints big time here. HTC phones are generally equipped with extremely powerful and intuitive virtual keyboards. However, the Wildfire’s virtual keyboard lets you down with crammed keys and slow response to typing.

The 5 megapixel camera of the Wildfire is a welcome change from the low resolution ones in previous HTC phones. The camera provides decent picture quality for indoor shots also. You are well advised to buy the HTC Wildfire, but only if are cool with the downsides.

With the new billig HTC Wildfire, HTC is hoping to conquer a large part of the market it hasn’t gotten such a big grip on yet – The market for cheap touch mobile phones. Follow the HTC Wildfire at the site for HTC mobiles and find out how it’s doing.
