How To Install A Drain Pipe

Installing drain pipes is a professional work done mostly by plumbers. It involves the use of special tools and materials and requires an intensive process of completing the job. Although it sounds more like it must be really done by plumbers, you can actually do the installation yourself.

First thing to do is to gather all the tools and equipments together in one place. You will be needing the following: wrench, putty, adhesive, plastic washers, plastic nuts, and plastic PVC pipes. You also need to wear a rain coat, a pair of gloves, a mask and goggles to protect your skin and body.

The first step in the installation process is to be aware of the right configuration in regards to the pipes. Double check under the sink to see what kind of pipe you will need. You will also need to check on a custom piece that will attach the drain to the wall trap or to the garbage disposal opening. To put them together, you will use plastic washers, plastic nuts and the pipes.

It is important that you check on the sink basket to check out the strainer bottom. In the bottom, there is a small piece of pipe that sticks down. Make sure that you connect this pipe that you see to the drainage in order for the strainer to be connected to the sink. This is easily done by using putty underneath the sink and pressing it into the drain. Then you have to attach the PVC tube to the sink basket and fit it with a washer.

Then you need to connect the whole system of pipes to the location of the disposal system. In this case you have to make sure the pipes are also properly fitted and secured. It is advised that you use adhesive, plastic nuts or screws on the wall trap so that it is securely attached.

Those are the steps on how to install drain pipes. It is not true that only professional plumbers can do this job. But remember that works executed by experts are always satisfactory. You can always opt to just hire a professional plumber if you think this is best for your sinks.
